As founder and president of AC Fitzgerald, Ann Fitzgerald has served as a trusted partner and adviser to dozens of nonprofits and funders. She holds a master’s degree in philanthropic studies from Indiana University and brings nearly three decades of experience in sales, management, fundraising, publishing, and marketing. Her expertise in analyzing nonprofit performance and creating tailored solutions has allowed AC Fitzgerald’s nonprofit clients to achieve their missions, raise more money, and maximize personnel resources.
Prior to starting the firm, Ann was director of development a major Washington, DC think tank, where she helped increase contributions income by 20 percent by establishing integrated programs for direct marketing, major gifts, and planned giving. She started her career at BNA Software, now part of Bloomberg BNA, holding both sales and marketing positions.
Ann has served on numerous nonprofit boards and is on the faculty of The Fund Raising School at the Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy. She regularly trains on a variety of topics affecting nonprofits.
She holds a bachelor’s degree from the Catholic University of America. Ann and her husband live in Alexandria, Virginia.

As senior vice president of consulting services, Susan Mangels, Ph.D., ensures a personal and strategic approach to each client’s most essential fundraising challenges and opportunities. Susan has extensive experience serving at the highest leadership levels in the think tank and academic worlds. She previously served as chief development officer at the Independent Institute, vice president for institutional advancement at Lindenwood University, president of Lexington College, dean of Oakcrest School (Vienna, Virginia) and assistant head of Montrose School (Medfield, Massachusetts).
Susan holds a bachelor’s degree from Furman University, an Ed.M. from Harvard University, and a Ph.D. in education policy from the University of Illinois. She has held numerous board roles, currently serving on the boards of Montrose School, Women of Vision – Chicago, and FOCUS, Catholic Charities, and the Women’s Leadership Cabinet of the United Way in St. Louis. She is a member of The Policy Circle and publicly speaks frequently on the topics of executive leadership, career development, and work-life balance. She lives in Chicago, Illinois.

As an Account Manager for AC Fitzgerald, Maggie assists clients in achieving their goals and building lasting donor relationships. Maggie also develops high-quality marketing materials. Prior to joining the firm, Maggie served as a legislative correspondent in the U.S. Senate. She also previously worked in the development office at Christendom College where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Economics. Maggie enjoys spending time with friends and family, especially in the outdoors. She lives in Alexandria, Virginia.
